Hey All,

If you haven't already noticed, there are a couple of new links posted under the Campus Services tab.

The first is a link to the cafetaria's Facebook page, which will have updates on the daily menu for the curious.

The second is a link to the weekly chicken orders from the farmer for those who prefer a cheaper and fresher fare.

Also, the student drive link now contains more term 2 material and should be completely up to date in the very near future. (Still need some help for the upper terms.)

Finally, the new basketball rims are up! Head over to the courts and play a game, and if you are interested in an intramurals league, spread the word and it just might happen.

As always, all comments, ideas, and input are welcome. Have a great day!

August has past, and September has come, but the heat remains. The new terms has begun, and back to the books we return.

Welcome back to another island adventure, and may you have the best of luck!

Please be on the lookout for mosquitoes carrying Dengue fever, we have had a couple more instances since I last posted about it. Please refer to the earlier post for more information.

For all the old students, the cafeteria now serves flavored coffee/cappuccino and possibly even pastries and such (or so I am told), so be sure to check that out.

Finally, a big welcome to all the newbies to the island. Hopefully St. Vincent will be a great time for you filled with more than just medical books.

Here's to the start of a great term. Stay focused, stay healthy, and stay stress free. A(h) all the way!

Some news: I've got a few ideas to spruce things up and make life a little easier, so watch out for those.

And as always, if you have any ideas, notice any errors, or want to help out in any way, let me know! Thanks!

Big News Everyone!

You know that horrible mess of a Z Drive we have? You know how it's all disorganized and inaccessible away from campus? You know how annoying that is?

Well, yes, I'm sure you do...

In any case, you can now access the files on the Z Drive from anywhere in the world! (Not to mention that the files are wonderfully organized!!!) How? You may ask. well I will tell you:

That link above takes you directly to this website's Student Drive page, aka tsomstudent.weebly.com/student-drive.html

All you need to do is enter the student password when prompted, and voila you have access.

A few disclaimers:
  • I just started the organization/upload process, so all I have up currently is the Term 1 stuff we have done so far.
  • I have only been around for a short amount of time, so I won't be able to organize upper term stuff without help! (or until I'm in that term...)
  • I don't know half the stuff that's currently on the Trinity provided drive, so I really do need help organizing (you can even do it on your own time from your own bed/chair/whatever).
  • Help Help Help! (I'll even give you a format in which to organize so that you don't really have to do any thinking.
  • We can probably add the student files from the google doc files if someone wants to organize that too!

If you haven't already heard. We have had one student contract a strain of Dengue Fever from a mosquito bite.

Be on alert and stay safe, or you will be miserable for about 3 weeks and struggling to catch up with work!

Tips:
  • Try not to go outdoors at peak mosquito hours. (dawn/dusk/night)
  • Try not to hang around standing water, and remove all sources of standing water from your area if you can.
  • Wear pants and long sleeves if you do venture out at those times in those places.
  • Use mosquito repellant if you have it.
Symptoms of Dengue include sudden-onset fever, headache, mouth and nose bleeding, muscle and joint pains, vomiting, rash, and diarrhea. For more info on Dengue Fever, click here or here.

So with all the internet issues going around and with Paul saying it's a router issue and your ethernet not working, there might be a simple fix if you are a pc user. If you're getting an error that says anything about contacting your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for a Domain Name Server (DNS) issue, do the following, and you should be fine. (Even if you're not sure if you have a DNS issue, you can just do this to cover all bases since it won't affect anything. Worst case scenario, it won't fix your internet issue).
  1. Turn off your wi-fi, and plug in your ethernet cable
  2. Go to the Start Menu > Accessories > Command Prompt
  3. Input "ipconfig /release" (no quotation marks)
  4. Then input "ipconfig /renew"
  5. Input "ipconfig /flushdns"
  6. Input "ipconfig /registerdns"
  7. Test your internet connection
Hopefully this solves your problem. If not, your issue may be something else. Props go to Carlos for helping me out with this. Good Luck!
